The ultimate in channel drain systems

Ultra Drain Plus is a modular linear channel with an anodised aluminium top over a UV stabilised base. It is designed and owned in New Zealand, and made to fit standard DWV pipe sizes, so it plugs into the drainage you already have.

Use it along pool surrounds, at door and slider thresholds, across driveways and garage entries, and at the foot of steps and walls, anywhere surface water needs a clean line to follow.

Tile Insert

The grate disappears. A 22 mm alloy tray holds 20 mm tile, paver or stone so the drain reads as a thin pair of lines. For 10 mm tile, pack underneath with 10 mm water resistant villa board.

UDP 45

The shallow option for slabs with little depth to spare: thresholds, balconies, courtyards and paths.

UDP 75 and 100

The everyday workhorses for pool surrounds, patios and driveway runs, with side and end outlets for tighter layouts.

UDP 130

The highest capacity, with a wall locking arm that keeps the channel rigid on commercial jobs.

Built in

  • The alloy top is a compression fit rather than a clip, so it sits firm and stays level.
  • Top and base can be locked together to stop tampering in public spaces like parks and hospitals.
  • The top wraps over the base edge, so no plastic is left exposed to UV.
  • Internal interlocks line lengths up cleanly, and an outside glue joint adds strength.
  • The honeycomb top is extruded from 6063A alloy for extra strength, and lets leaves lift out more easily than slotted tops.
  • All fittings are sized to DWV pipe.

Installation

  1. Store the alloy top away from site until concreting and tiling are finished. Leave the construction cover in the base.
  2. Lay out the lengths, corners and outlets you need.
  3. Join every part with PVC solvent cement, fixing corners and outlets to suit your drainage design.
  4. Set the finished height and fall, then haunch the channel in concrete or sand and cement.
  5. Pour concrete around the channel to finished height, keeping it straight and clean.
  6. Tile or finish the surface. Leave a 4 mm flexible joint of silicone or polyurethane between the finish and the drain.
  7. Remove the construction cover and press the alloy top in, working from one end.

Clean alloy with pH neutral products only. Not for heavy vehicle traffic over 5 tonnes. Store out of direct sunlight.

Questions

Does Ultra Drain rust?

No. The alloy grating is anodised to marine grade specification.

Which size should I use?

It depends on the surface area being drained and the rainfall on site. Send us the layout and we can help you size it.

Can I drive over it?

Yes, for vehicles up to 1000 kg per inflated tyre at up to 25 km/h, provided the channel is encased in concrete as per the installation guide. It is not intended for heavy vehicle traffic over 5 tonnes.

What do I join the parts with?

PVC solvent cement, available from any plumbing supplier or DIY store.

Is it chemical resistant?

The base resists all standard household chemicals. Clean the alloy top with pH neutral products only, as acid or strongly alkaline cleaners can damage it.

How hot can the water be?

The base is rated for water up to 55°C.

Does the alloy top get hot in the sun?

Aluminium reflects both light and heat well, so it stays comfortable underfoot.

Can I get custom lengths?

Yes, on indent, with a minimum run of 3000 lineal metres. Custom branded packaging is also available with a minimum of 2000 boxes per size.
